Topic Scribe's NFL Fantasy League Message Board / Owners Committee set (116 hits)

Dallas Cowboys Date Tue Nov 25 1:37:08 a.m. ET 2008
All,

We have three owners who are going to be looking at all aspects of the league and coming up with the changes we need to make this a great 32-team league.

If you have any suggestions, please e-mail them to these three owners.

My thanks to all three for stepping up and helping out.

Commish

Start by reviewing all the suggestions made previously in posts such as "Rules changes for 2009" and some even before season started.

Hope some changes do come about that makes this League more of a challenge.
OR
put a button on home page next to "Submit Lineup" that says (and does select) "Same as Last Week". :-P

Thanks for stepping up guys.  The core concept of this league has a wealth of potential but it's plagued by some impracticalities currently.

Any owner on the fence with this league should know that Scribe runs really great leagues.  LEGENDS has been my favorite 2 years running.  So give this one a chance to get there as well.

Looking forward to reviewing the suggestions/list of changes.  Good luck guys

Here are a few to start:

QB Scoring:
Change "INT" to -3.
"Length of INT thrown Ret for a TD" - All lengths (0-9, 10-39 & 40-110) need changed to negative points. See M. Bulger Week 14.

Special Teams Scoring:
Change Kick RET & Punt RET yds to 1 pont per 20/25 yds. - Just think that RET yardage should probably be cut down a little bit.
"Length of Lost Fumbles Ret for TD" - All lengths (0-9, 10-39 & 40-110) need changed to negative points.
"Length of Missed FG Ret for TD" - All lengths (0-9, 10-39 & 40-110) need changed to negative points.

Maybe cut down on the "Length of TD" bonuses for all yardage.  I think the longer the TD the more points is fine, but to get an extra 6 points every TD seems a bit much.  Possibly set up 0-9=+1, 10-39=+3 & 40-110=+5.

As for starting lineups, since we all have 40 players maybe cut down the starters to say 25, keep the cap on starting positions, and increase the taxi squad to 10 and cut 5.

Keeping roster sizes at 40 and adding spaces to taxi squad doesn't solve any of the roster problems we are having.  Almost all teams have FA players on them.  IMO roster sizes need to be less as well as starting players.  I also think that league fees need to be talked about again as well.  Paying $30 to be a bad team for the first 3 years atleast doesn't make ppl want to stick it out.  Ecspecially when it was talked about being a trophy league when some committed to it.

I do not see much chance of changing the scoring and starting line-up requirements to everyone's satisfaction.  Teams that have built their rosters toward a certain type of player based on the present rules will not agree to such changes after using their draft picks and trades in the opposite way.

I do see value in having so many owners available to form a 32 team league.  I would propose starting over with a more conventional draft and charter.

hello all,

i will be looking over suggestions and looking at other leagues for ideas, i will throw them out to the committe and other owners to discuss as well. i am committed to making this a top league. That might include stuff as trivial as site layout to important factors such rosters and scoring.

If you do not want to participate next season for any reason please let us know though so we can search for new owners.

thanks,

Justin

It will depend on what changes take place if I'll be back or not.
